Live, streamed and montage music videos produced by Carlow Digital

I believe that music videos are one of the great art forms and, while we haven’t made a lot of them, they are something we always enjoy working on. My earliest video experience was making videos for a band I was a member of, so I have experience on both sides of the camera.

For live band and performance music videos, we can field up to eight high definition and 4K cameras, operated by an experienced crew, guided by a headset communications system.
Entourage Wedding Band
Montage Video

This video was put together to showcase the wide ranging setlist of this superb Irish wedding band. Almost 50 emails were exchanged between singer and organiser extraordinare, Jenny Foster of Entourage, and ourselves prior to the shoot. Every aspect of the video – concept, location, staging, casting, costume and script – was discussed in detail before a single frame was shot.

Huge credit to the band for their endless patience, and to dancers and actors Nicole Kidd and Jason Hannon for their dedication and talent.

The Prickly Pairs
Live-streamed performance montage

Recorded at the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) annual awards weekend in the INEC in Killarney, this video is a combination of The Prickly Pairs live-streamed performance and some live inserts from the show.

For videos like this, I edit the audio first to hear how the music will flow from track to track and to refine the length of the finished product. Only then do I start editing the picture.

Planet Dude
Performance montage

Sadly, now long disbanded, this video for the wonderful Planet Dude was put together at a time long before High Definition. It’s included here because I think the grainy look lends a certain authenticity and because I really liked the band.

I recorded the audio one Sunday afternoon in a veterinary supply shop, while the video was shot in a local hall using four par56 cans as lighting which we kept moving around to make it look like more!

The bass player was m.i.a. on the day of the shoot so someone’s girlfriend stood in for him. I think she was a much better choice.

Charity
Daddy Long Legs

From the sublime musical, Daddy Long Legs, comes this beautiful vocal and dramatic performance by Eoin Cannon.

Daddy Long Legs is the tale of Jerusha Abbott the “Oldest Orphan in the John Grier Home” (played by Róisín O’Sullivan) and her mysterious benefactor, Jervis Pendleton, who decides to send her to college to be educated as a writer. Required to write him a letter once a month, she is never to know the benefactor’s identity – so she invents one for him: ‘Daddy Long Legs’.
